Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update IMM76K for Galaxy Nexus

For the owners of the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, it has been a long and winding path to get the Android 4.0.4 IMM76K update. But we hope all that hair pulling and teeth grinding can be put behind now, as the long awaited update has finally been approved by Verizon. You know what this means, don’t you? The oft-rumored but never realized OTA update is coming to your handset very soon.

Verizon’s website detailing the IMM76k update for Galaxy Nexus has gone live, so you know that we’re talking about the real deal here. The carrier has also provided instructions on how to make that jump, should you wish to initiate the update manually,  instead of waiting for the OTA roll out. The update file, which is the same as the one that Google made available on its servers a week ago, is about 40MB in size.

The carrier has listed several things that the Android 4.0.4 update will bring to your device, which include improvement in call quality — where users will experience less choppy audio, clicking noises, and one-way audio noises — as well as bugs fixes for some functions of the apps, the power control widget, the messaging features, and the display freeze problem.

We’ve said it so many times before, but feel free to let our readers know when you receive the update on your Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
