How to Set Maximum Security With Passcode Lock on Dropbox on Android

Dropbox is one of the most famous applications which is used for storing files in the Cloud. As you might know, Dropbox has its clients in all mobile platforms, PC and Mac OS X as well.

If you are a regular user of Dropbox and use it to store, sync and share your personal files, you might want to protect your files. For the same purpose, you could set a passcode for Dropbox for all your files. Read on to find out how to go about doing that:

1. Open Dropbox on your Android device by choosing it from the app drawer.
2. Press the options/Menu key on your phone for the menu to open up. Now choose settings from the list there.
3. In the first column of dropbox settings category, choose Passcode lock.
4. Now, within the passcode option you should first check the passcode lock button and turn it on.
5. Dropbox will now ask you to set your 4 digit passcode, after which you will have to enter it again for confirmation.
6. Once the passcode is set, you will have your passcode options enabled which will allow you to turn it off, change your existing passcode to a new one or erase all the data in your dropbox account when entered incorrectly in 10 attempts.

The passcode is set and everytime from now, it will actually ask the user who opens the app to enter the passcode without which your files won’t be displayed.

However, note that the by choosing the erase all data option on Dropbox, it is quite a risk as all data from the device will be deleted. But the choice varies from user to user. Do consider before choosing this option and make the best use of this by choosing a strong passcode instead of poor ones like consecutive numbers (4444) etc.
