New Release Android game for Q3, Carmageddon mobile game

Carmageddon may not mean much to most people nowadays, but back in 1997, when the official car racing / car-crashing / pedestrian-killing game was launched for PC, it certainly made an impression with gamers.

At first sight, it’s a simple racing game, in which the player has access to various cars and has to complete various courses. But once inside, you’ll quickly find out that you don’t have to be the fastest pilot in the parking lot to win any race as long as you’re willing to completely destroy the competition and/or run over any innocent pedestrian you can find.

After being launched on Windows and Mac, the game soon made it to gaming consoles including PlayStation and Game Boy Color, and, just like other computer games from the same period, it’s getting ready to make the jump to more advanced gaming devices such as iOS/Android smartphones and tablets.

As you can expect, the mobile Carmageddon version will offer players a new gaming experience with better graphics and a redesigned interface to accommodate touch input. In addition to all the car-crashing and pedestrian-killing that you can master, you’ll also be able to save the best replay videos and share them with friends that enjoy your Carmageddon passion.

The game is going to be launched in the third quarter for iOS and Android devices, but an actual release date and pricing details are not available at this time. It’s also not known what Android smartphones and tablets will be able to run the game initially, although we expect the developer to support as many devices as possible after launch.

We were not surprised to see Rockstar Games release Grand Theft Auto 3 for iOS and Android devices a few months ago, also a best-selling game of the early 2000s. That was a clear signal that we could see more popular games of that period get resurrected and redesigned for play on current smartphones and tablets running various mobile platforms.

Such is the case with Carmageddon, and since the mobile game is going to be launched by Stainless Games, the original creator of the PC title, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some of its sequels – three other games are part of the Carmageddon PC series – hit digital stores at some point in the future.

In the mean time, check out the official trailer of the game to get a sense of what you can expect from Carmageddon mobile:
