Mexico, Israel, the Czech Republic and Poland are now open to
submit and sell their apps as well as in-app products and downloadable
content on Google Play.
Google Play (what used to be known as the Android Market until the
re-branding that occurred earlier this year) has just given the
opportunities for app developers from four new countries to upload and
sell their designed apps through the official Android marketplace.
App developers can now create a new developer account, submit their
apps and price them with any available currency including their own
local currency. Payments will be transferred to their local bank
accounts. There is the option to receive payments directly in their own
local currency.
App developers from Mexico and Israel who may have gone around the
system before by utilizing AdSense may have to create an entirely new
App Developer account for them to do so. This is because Mexico and
Israel were already allowed to sell apps on Google Play before yet they
had to go through an AdSense merchant to get their products available in
the market and for them to receive their payments. Now they can publish
and get paid directly yet, as mentioned, they may need to create a new
developer account.
All of these new changes, including the integration of the Android
Market with Google Music, is a part of the steps Google is taking to
slowly step away from ad-revenue exclusive strategies that they focused
heavily in the past and move towards the paid content heavy strategy of
the new unified platform Google has implemented.
This allows users and developers to earn directly for the apps they
create without having to go through the lengthy online advertisement
process that Google once promoted to their followers.
