If Sony’s current smartphone lineup has failed to excite you, perhaps you’ll find something to like in the company’s next two offerings. Meet the Sony Xperia Go and Xperia Xperia acro S, the newest members of the Xperia family, that have just been announced by Sony and will be launched in the third quarter of the year.
The Sony Xperia Go is a 3.5-inch phone of 320 x 480 resolution equiped with the standard Mobile BRAVIA engine to give its display a boost of sharpness. The dual-core 1GHz processor should be enough to provide a lag-free experience on the phone’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though it will be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. Other specs of the Xperia Go include 512MB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a 5MP rear camera that can capture multiple shots in a second. Available in black, white and yellow – the Xperia Go will be rebranded as the Xperia Advance for the US market.
The second model introduced today is the Sony Xperia acro S, which adds a dual-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon processor into the mix. Along with a 4.3-inch HD Reality Display and the Mobile Bravia engine, the phone has 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, 12.1MP rear camera, HDMI port, NFC, and GPS and GLONASS support. This PlayStation-certified phone comes in black, white, and pink, and will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Both phones will be water- and dust-resistant and come with scratch-proof mineral glass that enables wet finger tracking. The Xperia acro S receives the lower standard IP57 and IP55 ratings, while the Xperia Go comes with the highest level of water and dust resistance, as certified by its IP67 rating.
