QWERTY phone, T-Mobile-bound Samsung SGH-T699

Well you can cross that Galaxy Nexus off your T-Mobile’s wish list, for the mysterious Samsung SGH-T699 that we reported a while back has been unveiled as a QWERTY phone.
Aside from the fact that it has a 5-row slide-out keyboard, which would be welcomed by heavy texters and emailers, the rest of the specs are still uncertain.
Let’s start with what a source has told TmoNews about the phone. The phone will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and the rear camera apparently is of a 5MP variety. To hazard a guess, the front camera is at least a VGA one. Going by the previous leak, the display is likely an HD one (1280 x 720 resolution), while the phone’s processor will be based on ARM11 architecture.
Sorry, physical keyboard aficionados, that’s all the details we have on the Samsung SGH-T699 for now. But at least this means not all manufacturers and carriers have ditched keyboard-equipped smartphones.
Though their numbers have dwindled, there are still a couple of interesting slider smartphones in the market now – or some that will be available soon. You can look forward to the arrival of the LG LS860 and its relatively high-end specs, which is expected to come to Sprint. Meanwhile, AT&T already has a new QWERTY Android phone of its own, in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Appeal, which is being offered at $149.99.
