Apple may be the giant in the technological world of today and the
evidence is clearly shown through the three million purchases of the
third generation iPad accumulated in just two weeks after the device’s
launch, iOS and even their number one rival Google Play has been
defeated by Amazon’s Appstore when it comes to generating higher revenue per user.
Believe it or not, Amazon is actually doing much better than both Google
and Apple as the numbers show. TinyCo, one of the top game developers
that sells products on all three platforms, is just one of the several
companies that supports this statement. TinyCo took a look at one of
their leading downloadable games, Tiny Village, and did an analytical
breakdown of their generated revenues from all three stores.
Their studies show that when broken down as according to sales by
platform, Amazon monetizes a good 80% higher per user than on iTunes. If
you decide to look into the tablet market alone then the Kindle is
monetizing 40% better per user than the Apple iPad. TinyCo did mention
that the Android store does look like a very strong market as the
differences between Amazon and Google are not as big a gap and that
Android devices are generating a good 82% better per user than on
iPhones.
People may criticize that these numbers are solely based on one company
but other developers have voiced out a similar analysis as well. TinyCo
is one of the few app developers that sells on all three stores and has a
substantial market for the study to collect reliable data from. Others
include Flurry and Storm8. Flurry’s data was collected from over 150,000
different apps available on all three stores, therefore they have a
much larger pool for data. Storm8 had announced they had generated a
total of $700,000 on their very first month on the Amazon Appstore.
