Released on 3th July, Amazing Spider-Man Android game

Hollywood hasn’t exactly been a flowing river of original ideas these past few years, so it came as no surprise that, just five years after Spider-Man 3, the super-hero movie series was rebooted. A new “Amazing Spider-Man” is due to be released this summer, with a fresh new cast, director, screenplay and a slightly tweaked storyline.

Andrew Garfield will take over the title character of the movie from Tobey Maguire and, while it’s obvious we’re not dealing with the exact same plot as in the 2002, 2004 and 2007 films, we don’t expect many touches of originality either.

However, longstanding fans of the Spider-Man comics and franchise will surely take 3D and IMAX theatres by storm on June 3 and they are also expected to enjoy a new mobile game from Gameloft. The French developer has officially announced the release of the official Amazing Spider-Man game, due to happen at the same time with the movie premiere.

We don’t know much about the future Android game, but we should expect some spectacular visuals and outstanding special effects. Gameloft will be working with Marvel to come up with a game to follow the comics’ storyline and, according to the producers:
The Amazing Spider-Man will be a full 3D action game that incorporates familiar characters and environments, and provides players with plenty of missions, rich gameplay and comprehensive battle systems.

Gameloft and Marvel have released another Spider-Man mobile game a couple of years back, “Spider-Man: Total Mayhem”, and, while it wasn’t exactly the smartest and most original app around, it did provide a lot of action, some smooth controls and enough missions and levels to not get bored of quickly.

The new game’s storyline hasn’t been detailed just yet, but considering it will hit the market at the same time as the movie, it’s safe to assume that your in-game mortal nemesis will be The Lizard. Hopefully, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy will be as hot on our Android devices as it is on film, so as to have someone nice to raise our spirits if we happen to get beaten by Dr.Curt Connors (aka The Lizard).

Naturally, we don’t know anything about the future game’s pricing either, but we expect it to be at least as costly as “Spider-Man: Total Mayhem”, which is currently available at $6.99. Check out Gameloft and Marvel’s full press release below announcing the Android game’s coming, feast your eyes with the movie’s latest trailer and don’t forget to hit us with a comment and let us know how excited you are about “The Amazing Spider-Man”!

Just $21, You can get Android Hacker's Toolkit book for your Android

With over 4.5 million registered users, the XDA-Developers community has established itself as one of the strongest and most connected Android hacking online “groups”. And what better way to grow and expand than by helping other, more inexperienced users gain access to this wonderful developing world?

That’s probably exactly what Jason Tyler and Will Verduzco asked themselves when they started working on the “XDA Developers’ Android Hacker’s Toolkit” book, released yesterday, and available for purchase both in “physical” and e-book forms.

The book intends to be a “complete guide to rooting, ROMs and theming” and is a “simple, one-stop resource on hacking techniques for beginners”, according to contributor Will Verduzco’s statements. Available for  $21 to $24, the hacking guide can be found on Amazon in its more traditional, paper-printed version, but it can also be downloaded from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks and Google Play.

While its main target is to help newbies get the grasp of ROMing and theming Android, the book should not be avoided by more experienced developers. After all, you should never stop learning and this guide seems like it can help you widen your area of expertise.

There are step-by-step instructions provided for developing your own custom ROMs for several popular Android-based devices, including Motorola’s Droid and Xoom, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series, and LG’s Optimus line of smartphones, but also general information about what Android hacking entails in a wider sense.

And if you’re still not sold by the idea of spending around 20 bucks for the book, you should know that all funds raised by selling the hacking guide will be donated by the XDA team to EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation), a nonprofit organization established to defend “people’s rights in the digital world”. If that’s not an honorable reason to buy a book these days, I honestly don’t know what is…

iPhone Notification, Android app with Same like bubble Notification and Banner on the iPhone's iOS 5

Admit it–at one point or another, you’ve wanted to sport an iOS feel on your Android device, most especially some features of iOS that are currently not available on the Android platform. Apple and Google had already been in a fierce competition before. They even went to court, with Apple protesting that Google copied some elements of iOS user interface. Google, on the other hand, also filed a copyright infringement stating that Apple did the same.

Nevertheless, iOS and Android are both wonderful platforms and you could never compare apples and oranges, but at the same time, they share common characteristics. You can never have the best of both worlds, but this cliché will soon change as users taste a bit of iOS goodness on their Android devices.

Android and iOS are two different worlds, each having its own set of pros and cons. Nevertheless, they have special features exclusive to their ecosystems. Thanks to the numerous apps on the Google Play Store, getting that iOS feel on your Android phone is now possible.

iOS 5’s notification bar–or, at least, something that looks and functions like it–can now be replicated on any Android device. If you have always wanted to have that bubbly notification effect, then look no further with the iPhone Notifications app for Android.

Developed by Productigeeky, they are also the same company responsible for delivering NotifierPro, an app that breathes iOS notifications on your Android device.

iPhone Notifications for Android is one of the best apps in the market today that offers a very realistic and sleek iOS feel for users who want a dash of iOS on their daily serving of Google’s tasty treat.

The app developers claim that the app is noteworthy for greatly improving how your Android device displays its notifications. If you have already tried NotifierPro, then you won’t be surprised about how iPhone Notifications pretty much resembles the latter.

iPhone Notifications offers the iOS feel with the notification and bubble sitting pretty on top. Every time you receive a notification, a bubble alert will quickly display on top of your screen and shows you important information regarding that alert.

For instance, if someone communicates with you using Google Talk, a bubble message will show up together with the name of the person, the contact’s message, and a small Google Talk icon beside it.

The lite version is limited to displaying notifications but you can always upgrade to the pro version that pitches in additional features. The paid version lets you display full notification text, choose themes, set custom vibration alert patterns and even set individual settings for each application.

In a nutshell, iPhone Notifications is like the exact duplicate of the developer’s other app, NotifierPro. The only difference is that this app has an “iPhonish” feel that will make your Android phone feel like it’s part iOS. If you are tired of having the same notification design popping-up on your phone then why not enhance your experience by downloading iPhone Notifications?

Dead Trigger comming in June, first-zombie shooting at its finest.

Want to survive the looming Zombie apocalypse? Future professional zombie hunters can now practice the skills of eradicating the undead on their Android devices, with the upcoming first-person shooter game, the Dead Trigger. Developed by the same team that brought you the blockbuster action game Shadowgun THD, we can expect the same high level visual quality and immersive gameplay.

Dead Trigger puts gamers in a world where a strange infection has brought civilization to a halt, with billions of people dead and many turned into zombies. As one of the few remaining survivors, shooting and blasting those bad boys is the only way to stop becoming an entrée for the hordes of zombies (and to stay alive for another day). But it’s not all guns and bombs here, because Dead Trigger also packs an engaging storyline that will gradually reveal itself as you get further into the game.

Check out the trailer.

Looking at the trailer, which compares the regular Android version with the Tegra 3-optimized one, the latter does have more visually rich backdrops and lush graphics. The use of motion captured animations take the realism level up a notch, which is also enhanced by the dynamic fog, lighting, and water effects. The production quality in both versions is a testament at how far gaming experience on Android has come since the early days.

Aside from the issue of graphics, CEO of MADFINGER Games, Marek Rabas, said that they are working hard on the gameplay mechanics as well. While we hope that the on-screen buttons will be intuitive enough, the game does support the use of game controllers.

The Dead Trigger will be released at the end of the month on Google Play and NVIDIA TegraZone.

Source code for multiple region in Galaxy S3 is Released

As the Galaxy S3 makes its landing in more countries, Samsung has decided to treat the Android community with a sweet present, by making the phone’s source code available on the company’s Open Source Release Center website.

You can download the 180MB file of the source code right here. Along with the international GT-I9300 model, Samsung has also provided an updated source file for three additional models of the Galaxy S3 released in other regions. If you have the GT-I9300 MEA, GT-I9300 SEA and GT-I9300 models, the additional 1.2MB update is also ready for download.

You’ve had time to marvel at the hardware of the Samsung Galaxy S3 for a good while. With the source code in the open, you can start tinkering with the phone’s software. It’s time for devs community to get busy and work their magic to deliver the amazing creations we got used to.

Samsung has been a rather exemplary figure when it comes to giving developers and modders something to play with. Who says Android phone makers can’t have their cake and eat it too? The Korean company, along with several noted others, have proven that releasing the source code of their phones won’t be a detrimental factor to sales.

New Release Android game for Q3, Carmageddon mobile game

Carmageddon may not mean much to most people nowadays, but back in 1997, when the official car racing / car-crashing / pedestrian-killing game was launched for PC, it certainly made an impression with gamers.

At first sight, it’s a simple racing game, in which the player has access to various cars and has to complete various courses. But once inside, you’ll quickly find out that you don’t have to be the fastest pilot in the parking lot to win any race as long as you’re willing to completely destroy the competition and/or run over any innocent pedestrian you can find.

After being launched on Windows and Mac, the game soon made it to gaming consoles including PlayStation and Game Boy Color, and, just like other computer games from the same period, it’s getting ready to make the jump to more advanced gaming devices such as iOS/Android smartphones and tablets.

As you can expect, the mobile Carmageddon version will offer players a new gaming experience with better graphics and a redesigned interface to accommodate touch input. In addition to all the car-crashing and pedestrian-killing that you can master, you’ll also be able to save the best replay videos and share them with friends that enjoy your Carmageddon passion.

The game is going to be launched in the third quarter for iOS and Android devices, but an actual release date and pricing details are not available at this time. It’s also not known what Android smartphones and tablets will be able to run the game initially, although we expect the developer to support as many devices as possible after launch.

We were not surprised to see Rockstar Games release Grand Theft Auto 3 for iOS and Android devices a few months ago, also a best-selling game of the early 2000s. That was a clear signal that we could see more popular games of that period get resurrected and redesigned for play on current smartphones and tablets running various mobile platforms.

Such is the case with Carmageddon, and since the mobile game is going to be launched by Stainless Games, the original creator of the PC title, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some of its sequels – three other games are part of the Carmageddon PC series – hit digital stores at some point in the future.

In the mean time, check out the official trailer of the game to get a sense of what you can expect from Carmageddon mobile:

Verizon is now announced an update to Android 4.0.4 For Galaxy Nexus

What was thought as the impossible is finally happening now – it appears Verizon is already sending out the IMM76K update for Galaxy Nexus, which will bring the device to Android 4.0.4. It took a little nudge from Google — as the update file was first uploaded to its server — and some pleas from disgruntled customers. But better late than never, right?

As always, any OTA update is usually rolled out in batches and it can be either per region or device number. There have been countless reports of people getting the update though, which started all the way from the early morning.  So hopefully today will be your lucky day. We guess we don’t have to tell you to keep checking on your phone for the update notification – since you’ve probably been doing so for the last few days.

As for how the update will affect the Galaxy Nexus, we’ve given a summary of that yesterday. Now here’s the complete information straight from Verizon.

Email, Messaging & Data
  • Email messages will display properly when the text size is set to large.
  • When sending a multimedia message to an Outlook email address, the file extension will send, allowing the recipient to successfully open an image.
  • Successfully deleted emails on the device will be deleted from the desktop as well.
  • Successfully send text messages without experiencing network connectivity issues.
Applications
  • When viewing a Calendar reminder or appointment, you will now be able to view the full notes associated with the appointment.
  • A down arrow has been added in the Calendar application that will expand the calendar message body, allowing you to view the entire message.
Device Features
  • Successfully turn on Wi-Fi using the Power Control widget.
  • Updates have been made to prevent the display from freezing or becoming unresponsive.
  • Complete calls without experiencing choppy audio, clicking noises and one-way audio noises.
  • Successfully access Voicemail and other automated systems without error.
Despite the seemingly extensive list of improvement and bug fixes that the IMM76K update offers, some users are still reporting instances of a “mute call” issue – but hopefully it’s an isolated case. In general, most are quite pleased with how the update has improved the performance of their Galaxy Nexus.

10 App for Guitarist Most Recommended in Your Android

If music has seduced your soul, you’ll have picked up one of the basic but iconic instruments known to humankind — the guitar. With its strings and its wood, you can produce beautiful music. It’s easy to pluck away at the strings and image yourself in a few years’ time, singing to huge crowds or just crooning to a small intimate gathering.

Regardless of how big you want to be as a musician, you can’t always be next to your instruments 24/7. We’ve got other obligations too, such as work, school, and family. If you want to take your guitar-playing passion with you wherever you go, we’ve got your back covered. We scoured the Google Play Store to find you some of the best apps for guitarists and guitar players, regardless of how recently you just started playing  or how seasoned you are.

Tuner – gStrings Free

Don’t you just hate it when you find your guitar isn’t quite tuned? If you’ve got the time and the ear for it, you can tweak it to perfection, but if you’re on a tight schedule or you’re just not that good at tuning your instrument, you might benefit from a little extra help.

Make sure that you always sound good with Tuner – gStrings Free, a chromatic tuner for your guitar. But, it isn’t just limited to just that. If you’ve got a buddy who needs help in making sure they’re not off key, gStrings can also help musicians with violins and other instruments.

gStrings includes orchestra tuning for when you want to redefine tone frequencies, different temperaments such (e.g., just, pythagorean, meantone, comma, and more), a variable nonlinear scale, microphone sensitivity, pitch pipe, and more. Download gStrings for your Android device today and make sure that your guitar is always in tune.

Guitar Tuner

If you just want a tuner specifically for a guitar, then Guitar Tuner might be your best bet. Just like a pitch pipe for the guitar, Guitar Tuner is the app for the musician on the go. It helps you figure out which notes to tune the strings of your guitar to.

The app shows you a graphical guitar on the screen, highlighting the string of your choice so you can easily locate it on your guitar. The app will then play the note for the string, allowing you to get an idea of the sound your guitar should be making.

Guitar Tuner may be too simple for some users, as the app doesn’t detect your instrument’s sound, nor does it allow you to work off of any conventional meter or gauge to tune your guitar. If you’d like to develop your hearing and learning how to tune your guitar by ear, Guitar Tuner might be for you. Guitar Tuner is perfect for beginners and seasoned guitar players alike.

If you just want to play for yourself and not bother the crowd around you, plug in your headphones and practice a few songs. You’ll just look like you’re playing a game. If you want to jam with your friends, plug in external speakers and let your musical fingers fly free.

Virtual Guitar also sports a chord library that lets you find all the important chords that you need and multi-touch support for when you need to hold down several strings. The app comes with Solo Mode, which allows you to touch a string on a selected fret to get a sound and try out that tablature you’ve found.  It also comes with Chords mode for when you want to play a song and you have its chords with you.

For Android devices with smaller screens, users can go to the app’s settings to reduce the number of frets displayed on the screen; choose between 6, 9, and 12.

Robotic Guitarist

Last but definitely not the least, here’s an app that’s not just a guitar emulator but also a chord guide, a tuner, and a metronome rolled into one convenient package. Robotic Guitarist is everything you need in one app so you don’t have to switch between apps.

You don’t have to be a seasoned guitarist to appreciate this app. You can choose a chord without having to learn the finger positions; hit the strings and hear gorgeous sounds recorded from a real instrument. Strum, play arpeggio, or try any desired technique.

For those of you who do play the guitar seriously, you’ll definitely enjoy Robotic Guitarist’s multi-touch support. Change your chord selection on the go with the app’s easy interface and check where your fingers go with the app’s finger position diagram. Tune your guitar and keep your tempo with the app’s built-in metronome. Choose between Robotic Guitarist’s acoustic or electric guitar and if you’re starting to get bored, you can choose the sound of pianos, chorus, or flutes and map them to the whole guitar.

Take this all in one guitar app with you wherever you go. Download Robotic Guitarist for free from the Google Play Store.
